More than two decades of measurable change.

Our impact is documented through verified organisational records, field monitoring, and community-level data collection. We report honestly — sharing both achievements and areas where more work remains.

A note on our impact data: The metrics marked with an asterisk (*) are drawn from our historical records and are currently undergoing internal verification for the MIDIR FUTURES rebrand. They will be confirmed or updated before the final launch of this website. The tree-planting figure and years of experience are drawn from verified organisational records.

Multi-region Geographic Reach

Programmes operating across multiple Ethiopian regions.

What restoration looks like on the ground

Ecological Recovery

Our reforestation sites show measurable improvements in soil cover, moisture retention, and biodiversity within 3–5 years of establishment. Long-term monitoring continues across multiple sites to document trajectory and identify management challenges.

Watershed Restoration

Riparian plantings and upland restoration have contributed to improved water availability in multiple community watersheds, reducing seasonal water stress for both agriculture and domestic use.

Biodiversity

Native species restoration creates habitat for birds, insects, and small mammals. Several sites have recorded the return of species not observed in those areas for decades.

Livelihood Outcomes

Farmer training programmes have improved yields and household food security, with cooperatives providing access to markets, inputs, and collective bargaining power that individual smallholders cannot access alone.

Community Resilience

Communities that have participated in our integrated programmes demonstrate greater capacity to respond to climate shocks, with diversified income sources and improved social cohesion that supports collective action.

Women's Empowerment

Women farmers and cooperative members participate at equal or greater rates than men in our programmes, with measurable improvements in decision-making authority and economic independence reported in multiple communities.

Our approach to impact monitoring

Credible impact data requires rigorous methodology. Here is how we approach measurement and reporting.

01

Baseline Assessment

Before any programme begins, we document the ecological and social baseline in the target area, establishing the reference against which change will be measured.

02

Regular Field Monitoring

Field teams conduct periodic site visits to document tree survival, biodiversity indicators, agricultural outcomes, and community participation rates.

03

Community Feedback

We conduct regular participatory assessments with communities to understand their own perception of change and to identify issues that are not captured by technical monitoring alone.

04

Independent Evaluation

Major programmes are subject to external evaluation by independent researchers and evaluators whose findings inform programme improvements and public reporting.

Annual Reports & Impact Documents
